Sherpa Woman Climbing Workshop Several great pictures from Everest and K2 Summiter Dan Mazur

Here is a picture of one of the largest and most breathtaking lakes we found high on the Kongma La pass with the immense North-West face of Ama Dablam in the background. This blue lake can be found at an altitude of 5250m and the shore is sometimes used as a high campsite for climbing the 5800m high trekking peak Pokalde.

This is a picture of one of the many lakes we encountered high up on the Kongma La pass. This time with the three ladies climbing the slopes and Ama Dablam in the background.

This picture was taken at the top of the Kongma La pass, at approximately 5540m high. From left to right you can see Nima Doma Sherpa, Lakpa Kongle Sherpa, Kandu Sherpa and Elselien te Hennepe. Those are prayer flags fluttering in the breeze in the upper right of the photo. Its a common practice in Sherpa culture to string prayer flags in high passes to bring good luck to climbers and trekkers.

This picture shows the view from the top down the steeper Lobuche side of the Kongma La pass. In the distance of the photo, you can see the village of Lobuche. We descended down this side, crossed the great Kumbu Glacier, or Kumbu Tokpa in Sherpa to the village of Lobuche. Crossing this long and high, but amazingly beautiful, almost deserted pass was yet another great experience on this trip!
